Features iDryer Unit – flexibility and scalability for perfect 3D plastic drying!

The iDryer Unit is an innovative filament drying solution with Klipper control. It allows for simultaneous drying of multiple spools with different temperature and humidity settings for each material. The body of the unit is 3D printed from ABS or other resistant plastic.
The drying temperature range depends on the plastic used to print the enclosure. The printed ABS housing can withstand chamber temperatures up to 90C, which is the maximum temperature for the standard version.

Components and roles of the modules:
The iDryer Unit MCU is the main control unit with a microcontroller (MCU) that connects to the Klipper via USB. It coordinates the operation of the heater, fan, temperature and humidity sensors. It also supports the connection of up to three additional expansion units.
iDryer Unit EXT is an expansion unit without a microcontroller. It is connected to the main MCU unit via patch cord and controlled by the central module. It is used to increase the number of drying chambers while maintaining individual settings for each unit.

Operating modes of the iDryer Unit system:
Drying Mode (DRYING)
Allows you to set the target temperature and run time for each unit.
Heating to the target temperature.
Maintains temperature and humidity control.
Automatically switches to storage mode at the end of the cycle.
STORAGE mode
Maintains low humidity inside the drying chamber for filament storage.
Maintains optimum temperature.
Turns on the heater and ventilation only when the humidity level is exceeded.
Control macros in Klipper
Ready-made macros allow you to quickly turn on drying for popular plastics such as PLA, PETG, ABS and PA.

Connection and expansion:
MCU KIT: Connects via USB to a Raspberry Pi or other host with Klipper. Controls the whole system.
EXT KIT: Connects via patch cord to the MCU. Can be used to add additional drying units.
MCU+EXT KIT: All-in-one kit – includes both the main MCU unit and one additional EXT module to get started with two drying units.
Example usage scenario:

If you are printing from PLA and PA6 at the same time, the iDryer Unit allows you to set:

U1 (MCU) – PLA drying at 55°C.
U2 (EXT) – PA drying at 90°C.

In this way, the system provides ideal conditions for each material without having to change the parameters manually.
